The EMI Archive Trust would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas. This tree’s revolving musical base is from Germany. Items like this were very popular around the beginning of the 20th century. This one is powered by a single spring, which rotates the Christmas tree and powers the two tune musical mechanism. We believe it may have been used at the first Christmas at London’s first recording studio in Maiden Lane, London. On top of the music box is a beautiful embossed stamp in the metal of Santa Claus and children. Our Christmas angel this year is a stunning photograph of Violet Loraine, a popular artist from the 1920’s.
