EMI Group Archive Trust: Current Project
Museum Documentation Project
The EMI Group Archive Trust has an internationally important collection of museum artefacts relating to all aspects of the company's history. Highlights include the gramophone which Captain Scott took to the Antarctic and the original 'His Masters Voice' painting by Francis Barraud.
The Museum Documentation Project (MDP) aims to create, for the first time, a complete catalogue of the collection which adheres to SPECTRUM: The UK Museum Documentation Standard. The information generated, including photographs, will then be made available on-line through this website.
Currently, all of our 'Playback' devices have been catalogued and are available to view. These artefacts are all those on which recorded sound can be played back, and include phonographs, gramophones and tape machines. Our 'Television' collection has also been catalogued, and can be viewed on-line. The next group to be catalogued are those which relate to recording and will include microphones and disc cutting lathes.
